Deck + Brick Patio Project
This deck and back patio had gotten extremely slippery from all the algae buildup and had become a real safety hazard.
Over time, the deck developed significant weathering, dark staining, and organic growth. The brick patio was in the same condition—dull, dirty, and retaining moisture. When algae builds up like this, it’s not just about appearance; it creates a slick surface that can easily cause someone to slip, especially when it’s wet.
At that point, the priority wasn’t just making it look better — it was making the space safe to use again.
We went through and gave everything a full, proper cleaning. The goal was to remove the buildup without damaging the surfaces and to bring back as much of the original look as possible.
Once everything was finished, the difference was huge. The deck lightened up, the brick came back to life, and the entire space felt cleaner and more open. More importantly, it was no longer slippery and unsafe.
A lot of times, homeowners assume something like this needs to be replaced, but in many cases, it just needs to be cleaned the right way. Regular maintenance like this not only improves how things look but also helps extend the life of the materials.
This one came out really nice and turned the backyard back into a space the homeowner can actually enjoy again.
